BANGARAM ISLAND

This teardrop-shaped island is very close to Agatti and Kavaratti. It is an important tourist spot located 459km off Cochin. The climate is warm round the year. Rainfall is limited and the temperature during monsoon is 25-270C. The Bangaram Island Resort is the only inhabited part of the island. Other than the guests and the crew, it’s uninhabited. It is ranked among the best get-aways in the world.

There are many varieties of fishes - Porcupine Fish, Parrot Fish, Puffer Fish, and hermit crabs and sea birds in Bangaram. Two small islands of Thinnakara and Parali lie close to Bangaram enclosed by the lagoon. Phosphorescent plankton washed ashore on the coral sands, impart a bluish glow to the beach, which is totally breathtaking. Guests are transferred by boat and helicopter to Agatti.
