Kerala Tourism

It's one of the most favoured holiday spots in the world. The sandy beaches, calm lagoons and backwaters, and the ever hospitable population make Kerala a much loved destination for all.

KAVARATTI ISLAND

Kavaratti, 404km from Cochin, is the head quarters of the Union Territory. Fifty two mosques are spread over the island and the Upra Mosque is the most beautiful one. The Marine Aquarium has excellent marine life exhibits. The main attraction of the aquarium is the small shark and there are also sea cucumbers, octopuses and anemones. There are glass-bottomed fibre boats on hire. This is an ideal spot for water sports and swimming. Kayaks and sailing yachts can be hired, too.

The Dolphin Dive Centre is an attraction for water sports enthusiasts. The centre offers different PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) programmes for beginner and professional divers. PADI is the world’s largest leisure diving organisation. Kavaratti is included in Coral reef and Taratashi packages.

There are few tourist huts near the jetty as an accommodation option in Kavaratti. They have attached bathrooms and balcony. The buffet-styled meals are generally in Malabar cuisine with spicy tuna, chicken and sweet potato being the favourites.
