SCUBA DIVING LAKSHADWEEP CRUISE TOURISM

Scuba Dive Lakshadweep

Scuba Diving in Lakshadweep is a great vacation item for those visiting the islands. Every year scores of tourists enjoy the variety of water sports and adventure sports here. Bangaram, with its pristine beaches and evergreen coconut palms are a good attraction. India's lone licensed Diving School is located here. There are diving instructors and trainees can be certified as Scuba divers, after a course at the centre. There are other Scuba diving centres at Kavaratti and Minicoy.

The beautiful lagoon at the Dolphin Dive Centre, Kavaratti, is ideal for beginners. The centre located on the northern tip of the island has easy access to dive spots. The island has a 10-bedded resort for the divers. Most travelers dream of one day enjoying this kind of vacation. As much for the luxury, sea, sport and sun as for the adventure and natural beauty. You can spot turtles, corals sharks, rays and all kinds of tropical fishes.

Governor’s Reef is a treasure trove for soft brightly-coloured corals. There are cave dives at ‘Wall of Wonder’ to the northwest of the island. Turtle Nest, as the name says, is known for the different types of turtles. You can also find reef sharks, spotted rays, bat fish and lot of groupers at Wind Mill Point. PADI-certified instructors are available to train beginners

Areas like Harbour Mouth is abundant in Giant Sea Fans. Zing Zing Par at the southern end has sharks, spotted eagle rays and barracuda. The Kadmat Diving Centre is one of the most beautiful diving locations in the country. It is about 407km off the Kerala coast. This eight-km-long island is only 550m wide at its broadest point.

The shallow lagoon on one of its sides is full of coral boulders and other coral formations. A 20-50m visibility makes it an easy ride. Lion fish, lobsters, tuna, rays, sharks, sweet lips, groupers, eels and turtles make it memorable for the divers. Pristine beaches, lovely lagoons and the wealth of marine habitat make Kadmat Island houses the first Laccadives Dive Centre and School. The Laccadives Kadmat Dive School offers courses ranging from beginner to advanced courses from 1st October to 1st May. It is the only dive school in India offering CMAS certification courses from Beginner to Instructor levels.

The Minicoy Dive Centre at Minicoy is one of the biggest attractions on the southern most island in the Lakshadweep group of islands. Minicoy is the only island in Lakshadweep having three large ship wrecks. It is believed here that these ship wrecks initiated the construction of the light house in 1885. Most species of fish species found here are larger than the average size found elsewhere due to consumption of ‘ferrous’ from the wrecks.

Manta Rays can be spotted in almost all the dive sites like Ragganmathi, Mulimatti, Rabberufarai during September-October and January-February. Sharks, bull rays, turtles, red snappers, parrot fish black snappers, napoleon wrasse, barracuda and sweet lips are found in plenty at Bose Point, Murambu, Boduhavaligang.
