This three-km-long island is 394km away from Cochin. It lies on the international trade route between the Persian Gulf and Sri Lanka. There is a high storm beach on the northern and southern ends of the island. Summer nights are warm and people usually sleep outside their houses, on the beaches or on the porch in cubicles made from cadjan leaves. The island is fertile and abundant in flora. Kiltan has a rich tradition of folk dances.
Some of the lagoons are narrow and during low tide large boats cannot enter them. There’s a lime stone resource, here, and this area has dense trees. Suheli and Pitti have plenty of birds and the waters around them abound with fishes. This island is situated 47km southwest of Kavaratti.
