Located 407km off Cochin, it is a three-km-long and 1.5km-wide island. This oblong shaped island is known for its corals. Coral and stones are used as building materials.
There are places selling handicrafts and knick-knacks of all kinds of wooden items. It has also gained fame for stone engravers and sculptors, and their rich tradition of folk songs. The island gets its name from the Arabic word, ‘Amin’, meaning ‘faithful’.
