Andrott is located 293km from Cochin. It was the first island which adopted Islam. Saint Ubaidullah who is believed to have converted the natives into Islam died on this island and his tomb still remains in the Jumath Mosque.
Andrott is the largest island of the Lakshadweep islands group with an area of 4.8 km², measuring 4.5km in length and up to 1km in width. It has an east-west orientation unlike other islands that lie in the north-south direction. A fringing reef and a lagoon enclose the island.
